APPEAL TO THE GREAT SPIRIT

Cyrus E. Dallin (1861-1944) was born in Springville, Utah. Dallin's extensive work with American Indian figures conveys a theme of defiance and desperation in the face of European annihilation. He studied in Paris at the Académie Julian and taught art and sculpture at the Drexel Institute in Philadelphia. Dallin’s genius makes him stand out as an American master.
